• Arts education can improve students' academic skills, motivate learning, improve test scores, encourage community service and lower dropout rates.

• Many schools, particularly ones located in poor communities, do not offer comprehensive science courses or arts and cultural education programs.

• New York has more museums and historical societies than another other state.

Cultural and Museum Education Program

Request: $30 million and statutory authority to create partnerships with museums and cultural and science institutions to develop K-12 educational programs featuring hands-on experiences aligned with the state learning standards.
