Licensed Practical Nurse, SG-10 (ISU)

SALARY: $34,521

The New York State School for the Blind in Batavia is seeking to fill a Licensed Practical Nurse position.  The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the health care of students at the New York State School for the Blind. Duties will include carrying out clinic rounds, recording and giving medications promptly; assessing health program for service delivery, observing and recording symptoms of illness accurately and objectively; treating problems from standing orders; maintaining specific health records and reports on each student; and communicating appropriately with students, direct care staff, parents and other health agencies with tact, confidence and in concert with school procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of, or eligibility for, a license to practice as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in New York State. Candidates must also have the ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting of children.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Fingerprinting through the Department of Criminal Justice Services and a background check through the Office of Children and Family Services is required for employment.  Filling this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.
