How to Apply
The Office of P-16 Education is seeking candidates to fill a position of Associate in Education Improvement Services, Grade 26. This position is located in the Brooklyn Office of School Improvement and Community Services on the Accountability, Policy and Administration (APA) Team. The APA team has responsibility for developing policies, implementing regulations and providing technical assistance to schools and districts relating to federal and State accountability systems, persistently dangerous schools, family partnerships and NYC educational issues. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for permanent appointment, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in an Associate in Education Improvement Services OR be reachable on the Department promotion list for Associate in Education Improvement Services OR to be eligible for permanent appointment via Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service at a grade 24 or higher and meet the open competitive qualifications listed under provisional appointment. To be eligible for provisional appointment pending a Civil Service examination, candidates must have a Master’s degree and five years of professional experience in an education agency or organization working with elementary, middle or secondary schools in the provision of technical assistance or in the development or implementation of educational programs or educational grants OR possession of New York State permanent certification in classroom teaching, administration and supervision or school service AND five years professional experience in a public school teaching common branch subjects in grades Pre-K - 6 or teaching academic subjects (English, a language other than English, mathematics, science or social studies) in grades 7-12 or professional experience working with students in the areas of early childhood and parent education, guidance counseling, school social work or attendance improvement/dropout prevention.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment.
*Plus location pay of $1,302. Leads to a maximum salary of $83,347 based on annual performance advances.
