The New York State Education Department’s Bureau of State Aid is seeking applicants for the position of Head Audit Clerk, SG-18. This office is responsible for the calculation, payment, claim verification and projection of approximately $21 billion in State funds distributed to school districts annually in support of public elementary and secondary education in New York State. Duties will include but not be limited to:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Head Audit Clerk OR be reachable on the eligible list for Head Audit Clerk OR have one year of permanent competitive service in a title that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The nature of this position requires that candidates be comfortable in an environment where accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Proficiency with PC spreadsheet and database applications (including Excel and Access) is preferred. Candidates must be willing to learn new computer programs/systems. Knowledge of State Aid/education finance is a plus. Supervisory experience preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent contingent appointment.

*Leads to a salary of $55,954 based on annual performance advances.  It is anticipated that the starting salary of this position will increase once the PEF contract is ratified.
