New York State, Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (NYS OMIG)

School/Preschool Supportive Health Services Program (SSHSP/PSHSP)

Medicaid in Education Unit

Issue #07-1

TO:                      All SSHSP/PSHSP Medicaid Providers

FROM:                NYS OMIG SSHSP/PSHSP Medicaid in Education Unit

DATE:                January 25, 2007

SUBJECT:          Timely Submission of Claims to Medicaid

This alert is to inform all SSHSP and PSHSP providers that there has been no change made to the acceptable time limit to submit SSHSP and PSHSP claims to Medicaid.  School districts’ and counties’ claims are still considered timely when they are submitted and paid within 2 years of the date of service.  The article on page 16 of the November 2006 Medicaid Update entitled “Timely Submission Of  Claims To Medicaid” did not apply to SSHSP and PSHSP claims by school districts and counties.  Valid SSHSP and PSHSP claims may still be submitted for Medicaid reimbursement after 90 days and they will be paid provided that the date of payment is within 2 years of the date of service.
