The State Education Department today announced that the New York State Regional Employment Alliance has presented a statewide award to Midnight Janitorial, a Rochester area employer, for its outstanding commitment to hire and train people with disabilities.
State Education Commissioner Richard Mills said, "We are pleased to be part of statewide events that recognize and celebrate the contributions that individuals with disabilities make every day in our workforce. And it’s important too that we honor those employers who understand that everybody wins when people with disabilities are given a chance to work and contribute."
The Education Department’s Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) works to build effective alliances between businesses and qualified workers. VESID’s Vocational Rehabilitation program plays a critical role in that effort by providing job training to people with disabilities and helping them obtain meaningful employment. Midnight Janitorial has hired five clients from the Vocational Rehabilitation program this year.
The award was presented at the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford, NY.
