Regents State Budget Proposal #3:
Smart Scholars

• Target grants to colleges partnering with school districts, BOCES and community organizations. Intensify academic support for students beginning in 9th grade, with opportunities in 11th and 12th grades to take college courses.

• Smart Scholars will build on the work of private colleges and SUNY and CUNY and strengthen their programs.

• Since students in these programs will meet economic eligibility requirements, more low and middle income families will be able to afford college for their children.
