Regents State Budget Proposal #4:
Prepare More Teachers

• Prepare 1,000 more new teachers over the next 3 years for hard-to-staff subjects in high-need schools.

• Use innovate alternative teacher preparation programs.

• $25 million over 3 years will fund 8 innovative, collaborative alternative teacher preparation alliances. Colleges will work with high need schools. Each alliance will prepare at least 125 new teachers.

• Participating teachers will be required to work in high-need schools for at least 4 years.
