Java Plug In Installation Instructions

Instructions for Downloading and installing the Java Plug in

Note: To deinstall and install the java plug in, you will need
administrative rights on your PC. You may need to contact your
network administrator to have this done (to see if you have
administrative rights: click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Click
on User Accounts. If you have administrative rights, you will get a
box that has a Users tab and an Advanced tab, and the users tab will
show a row with "Administrator" under User-Name. If you don't have
Administrative rights, it will ask you to sign in as the
Administrator)

If your machine already has a Java Plug In other than version
1.4.2_05 installed, you must first deinstall that version. To do
this:

Removing current Java Plug In (if not version 1.4.2_05):

  1. Go to your control panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel).
  2. Double Click on "Add or Remove Programs"
  3. Highlight any row that starts with "Java 2 Runtime" or "Java 2 SDK" and click the [Remove] button.

To install the JAVA Plug In 1.4.2_05

  1. Double click on the "IV Download the Java Plug In 1.4.2_05" hyperlink on previous page.
    1. You will next see a "File Download" box:
    2. Under "What would you like to do with this file?"
      1. Click "Run"
    3. You will next see a "Security Warning" box with the question, "Doyou want software?"
      1. Click Run
    4. You will next see an Install Wizard Shield start up. Let this run.
    5. You will next see a dialog box with "Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.42 License Welcome"
      1. Click " I accept the terms in the license agreement"
      2. Click Next
    6. You will next see a dialog box with "Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2 Type"
      1. Click "Typical"
      2. Click Next
    7. You will next see a dialog box with "Java Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2 Progress"
      1. Let run while Java Plug In installs
    8. Finally, you will see a dialog box with "Java 2 Runtime Environment SE Complete"
      1. Click Finish
