How to Check the Java Plug In

If you are using Internet Explorer, Netscape or FireFox as your browser, then the Java Plug In Control Standard Edition 1.4.2_05 must be installed on your PC for the EFRT GUI screens to work for you.

In order to tell if you have the Plug-In 1.4.2_05, please follow these instructions:

1) Left-click on the start button, "mouse-over" Settings, then select Control Panel.

2) Look for an icon that looks like a steaming cup of coffee and says, "Java Plug In".

3) If the Java Plug In is not there, return to the previous page for instructions to download it.

4) If the Java Plug In is there, double click on it to open it up.

5) Click on the "About" tab. Your version should be 1.4.2_05. If it is not, return to the previous page for instructions to download it.

6) Click on the Updates Tab. If "Check for Updates Automatically" is checked, please uncheck it. This could cause you problems if it is left checked.

7) Click on the Browser Tab. Make sure to check all of the browsers that you might be using to access EFRT GUI (choices are Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla (Firefox)).
