Date: March 1, 2012
Subject:

Preschool/School Supportive Health Services Program (SSHSP)
2% Reduction in Medicaid Payments Not Applicable to SSHSP

The final 2011-12 state budget (Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2011) requires a 2% across the board reduction to most Medicaid payments for dates of service on or after April 1, 2011.

Previous information on the NYS Department of Health’s website indicated that only the required payments related to the Preschool/School Supportive Health Services Program settlement agreement were exempt from this 2% reduction in Medicaid payments. A recent determination has been made that payments to school districts, counties and §4201 schools for Preschool/School Supportive Health Services under the current rate structure are also exempt from this 2% reduction. School districts, counties and §4201 schools that had their SSHSP payments reduced due to this 2% across the board reduction will have these reductions refunded.

If you have any questions or comments regarding this alert, please contact your local Regional Information Center representative or the NYS Education Department, Medicaid-in-Education Unit at medined@nysed.gov.
