Students Enrolled in §4201 State-Supported Schools Who Attend a BOCES or School District Program Part Time

Committees on Special Education (CSE) authorizing part time BOCES or school district services for students enrolled at §4201 State-supported Schools are to use the following procedure to claim State reimbursement for the BOCES or school district services. The student’s district should:

  1. Submit a High Cost Public request for reimbursement approval on the DSPUB screen within the STAC Online (EFRT) System, with the BOCES or school district indicated as the education provider. Do not include the cost of the services provided by the §4201 State-supported school in the 10-Month annualized cost.
  2. Complete a School Age STAC-1 for the part-time placement at the §4201 State-supported school, and have it signed by the school district superintendent. Upload the completed and signed School Age STAC-1 to the school district “inbasket” on the SED File Transfer Manager. Nondistrict Unit approval is not required if the student has an existing Commissioner’s Appointment at the §4201 State-supported School.
  3. Send a notification email to OMSSTAC@nysed.gov. In the body of the email, indicate how much time is spent each week at the BOCES or school district and how much time is spent at the §4201 State-supported School. Include the filename of the completed and signed School Age STAC-1 that was uploaded to the SED File Transfer Manager. The filename should not include the student's first name.

The cost of the BOCES or school district placement will be a charge upon the school district with CSE responsibility for the student. Whenever the placement involves a BOCES of which the district of residence is not a component, a cross-contract involving the two District Superintendents should be utilized.
